Dear Rose
I was delighted to receive your lovely letter. I noted all the
news. Poor Elizabeth left everything in good hands when she left
them in yours. I hope you have all th things settled up by now.
Bridget must be a lovely girl with many degrees.
Margaret Finneran was in hard luck with her health. Elizabeth
used to correspond with Rose Finneran, your first cousin occasionally.
I wrote to her of Elizabeth's death and she was to write to you.
also my daughter Carmel of whom you spoke. She was very close
and fond of Elizabeth. She was so good to her when she was in
Boston. You will hear from her soon. She lives in England and
has three daughters. The oldest (19) has started her 2nd year
in teacher training in a Catholic Convent i Southampton (a long
way from her home.) She is a lovely girl if I do say so myself.
The second girl 18 Rebecca is working in the Bank and Eileen is
17 and going to school. Carmel's husband is Irish of course -
Michael Power. They have an engineering business of their own.
Started small and gradually reached enough to give them a living.
They all went to Catholic Schools.
Well Rose I hope you are well and hope you can take a holiday
for yourself. You will need it. Give my love to Lala! How many
children have you? I think it was your mother who used to make
the lovely apple pies that I used to devour. I had an awful appetite
after the trip out from IReland.
I can't get over the history of gall bladder in the family. I
was bad enough until I fell on Jan 13th. Was lucky it was not
worse. I got a bad bruising, but am O.K. again. I had Elizabeth's
name read out for prayers at mass one Sunday. I'm sure she is
in heaven and will think of all of use. I never hear from the
people in New Jersey. I'm sure alot have passed on.
It would be nice for you to see Ireland sometime, although the
climate is bad winter and summer mostly. I often wonder how long
I've got, but its hard enought to die too.
Well Rose, dear, write to me. I have not been out in 3 years.
Margaret
