Synopsis

Odile And Yvette At The Edge Of The World unravels the experiences of two teenage sisters who escape to an enchanted land where their wishes and desires come true. Odile is hip, 17 years old and though the oldest in terms of years often acts younger and more inexperienced than her younger sister Yvette who knows all the rules and all the answers. One afternoon while riding in the backseat of their loquacious father's car the two leap into a maize field and begin a game of hide, seek and disappearance. Odile thinks the game is fun, but soon tires of her hunger and exhaustion. Yvette prods her older sister with promises of food and water until the two eventually come to a huge culvert. Once through this passageway their lives change forever.

Yvette leads Odile through amazing landscapes and starts to pull whatever she needs out of her small bag. A frustrated Odile can't seem to get what she wants and gets more and more frustrated at her sister's continuing array of pastries and trinkets. Suddenly the two come upon a boy, Johnny, who takes them swimming and delivers Chinese food while they lounge in their exotic bathing suits and powder blue bathrobes. Both girls delight in the attention that Johnny gives them, but who is he? What is this place? What do they really want? What is real? Yvette tells her sister " If you stay past nightfall, you'll never be able to leave. If it gets dark and your face can't find the sun, you'll stay here forever." The girls make their decision as they understand the 'real' rules of the game.
